HRP is an unsolicited initiative that started due to Amman’s lack of public parks, safe play areas, youth encouragement and an efficient transport system. We decided to utilize a 20th century existing railway track, that is 26km long and 30 meters wide that is now wasted land. The proposal suggests the transformation of the existing track into a self-funding large-scale public park. The initial phase focuses on the portion of the railway that crosses through the heart of east Amman from north to south. The use of renewable energy and money sources allows for the park to generate revenue to fund itself and provide job/commerce opportunities for local residents, subsequently improving standards of living while offering a healthy recreational green space in a city that lacks it severely.
